Zusammenfassung: | Observations of 855 Shapley Ames galaxies made from November 1, 1980 to October 31, 1988, together with improved supernova luminosities, have been used to derive the frequency of supernovae of different types, and the results are presented in tables. From a uniform database of 24 supernovae discovered, the following SN rates are found, expressed in SN per century per 10 to the 10th L(B)(solar): SN Ia, 0.3; SN Ib, 0.3; and SN II, 1.0. The present data confirm the relatively high frequency of SN II in late-type galaxies that has been found by many previous investigators. 12 refs. |
