Inert-Atmosphere Dilatometer for Use to 2000°C

The dilatometer consists of a dense impervious SiC tube in which the specimen is supported in an inert atmosphere. A thin SiC rod extends from the top of the specimen to a micrometer dial on top of the tube. Temperatures are measured by Pt-Pt10Rh thermocouples to 1350 to 1400 deg C and by optical py...

Zusammenfassung:The dilatometer consists of a dense impervious SiC tube in which the specimen is supported in an inert atmosphere. A thin SiC rod extends from the top of the specimen to a micrometer dial on top of the tube. Temperatures are measured by Pt-Pt10Rh thermocouples to 1350 to 1400 deg C and by optical pyrometer at 1350 to 2000 deg C. Thermal expansion measurements to 2000 deg C are reported for SiC, TiC, MoC, ZrC, and 8TaC. ZrC. (D.L.C.)
