Zusammenfassung: | Proactive integration of environmental assessment (EA) with planning and policy-making is an integral part of EA effectiveness discourse EA effectiveness research in the past two decades includes reflections on the institutional dimensions of integration; the need for EA frameworks that recognize the interconnectedness of EA, planning, and policy-making domains; and the need for 'cross-domain integration' in support of regional sustainable development initiatives and goals. The need for improved integration among the three domains has grown especially keen recently, given the shift in the past decade toward more regional and strategic forms of EA.
