Zusammenfassung:Structural, dielectric and magnetic properties have been investigated for the polar ferrimagnet, GaFeO{sub 3} single crystals grown by optical floating zone technique. Phase formation was confirmed from X-ray diffraction. Hopping conduction mechanism of Fe{sup 2+} ions and oxygen vacancies contribute to the electric polarization and dielectric constant of the material. Disorderness in the cation site gives rise to the magnetic ordering and the splitting in the zero field cooled (ZFC) and field cooled (FC) magnetization curves reveals the movement of the domain walls.
