First-forbidden continuum- and bound-state {beta}{sup -}-decay rates of bare {sup 205}Hg{sup 80+} and {sup 207}Tl{sup 81+} ions

We analyze the decay rates {lambda}{sub {beta}{sub c}{sup -}} and {lambda}{sub {beta}{sub b}{sup -}} of the continuum- and bound-state {beta}{sup -}-decays for bare {sup 205}Hg{sup 80+} and {sup 207}Tl{sup 81+} ions. For the ratio of the decay rates R{sub b/c}={lambda}{sub {beta}{sub b}{sup -}}/{lam...

Zusammenfassung:We analyze the decay rates {lambda}{sub {beta}{sub c}{sup -}} and {lambda}{sub {beta}{sub b}{sup -}} of the continuum- and bound-state {beta}{sup -}-decays for bare {sup 205}Hg{sup 80+} and {sup 207}Tl{sup 81+} ions. For the ratio of the decay rates R{sub b/c}={lambda}{sub {beta}{sub b}{sup -}}/{lambda}{sub {beta}{sub c}{sup -}} we obtain the values R{sub b/c}=0.161 and R{sub b/c}=0.190 for bare {sup 205}Hg{sup 80+} and {sup 207}Tl{sup 81+} ions, respectively. The theoretical value of the ratio R{sub b/c}=0.190 for the decays of {sup 207}Tl{sup 81+} agrees well with the experimental data R{sub b/c}{sup exp}=0.188(18), obtained at GSI. The theoretical ratio R{sub b/c}=0.161 for {sup 205}Hg{sup 80+} is about 20% smaller than the experimental value R{sub b/c}{sup exp}=0.20(2), measured recently at GSI. We give arguments that the nuclear structure of the nuclei in the {sup 205}Hg{sup 80+}{yields} {sup 205}Tl{sup 81+} transition cannot provide such an enhancement of the ratio. We estimate the values of the continuum- and bound-state {beta}{sup -}-decay rates of the bare {sup 205}Hg{sup 80+} ions.
