Zusammenfassung:The crystals of Sm{sup 3+}-doped KLu(WO{sub 4}){sub 2} with large dimensions up to 40mmx33mmx13mm have been grown by the top-seeded solution growth (TSSG) method. The spectral and luminescent properties have been investigated. Based on the Judd-Ofelt theory, the following spectral parameters have been obtained: the phenomenological intensity parameters {omega}{sub t}, {omega}{sub 2}=15.728x10{sup -20}cm{sup 2}, {omega}{sub 4}=4.223x10{sup -20}cm{sup 2} and {omega}{sub 6}=2.839x10{sup -20}cm{sup 2}, radiative transition probabilities A{sub J,J{sup '}} and oscillator strengths P{sub J,J{sup '}}. The radiative lifetime of levels {sup 4}G{sub 5/2} is 748{mu}s. However, the measured emission lifetime is {tau}{sub em}=569{mu}s. The quantum efficiency is very low because of the excited state absorption. In addition, the values of integrated emission cross-sections are also calculated.
