Zusammenfassung:This is the first edition of the Forest Fire Information and Management Systems in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) report. This report provides an overview of the efforts made at the national level in each country and at the regional level in the development and use of forest fire information and management systems. The report presents fire information systems at the national level and follows the description of the Global Wildfire Information System (GWIS) where historical and near real-time information on forest fires can be acquired at national, regional (supranational) and global scales. Among the functionalities and features of this common forest fire early warning and monitoring system is its compatibility and interoperability with national LAC systems.
