Zusammenfassung:In this study, VAE emulsion binder was used to replace SB-Latex mainly used in paper coating system. Coating colors were prepared using four kinds of VAE emulsion binders having different particle diameters and the coated paper properties and printability were evaluated. It was found out that the surface roughness of the coated paper decreased, when the particle diameter of the VAE emulsion binder decreased. In comparison of SB-Latex and VAE emulsion binder (VAE-2) having similar particle size, the smoothness of coated paper prepared using SB-Latex binder showed better results than coated paper using VAE emulsion binder. The ink set-off property of coated paper using VAE-3 emulsion binder with smallest particle size was the best, and the property of coated sample was similar to that of coated paper using SB-Latex. In terms of strength, the use of SB-latex in the production of coated paper showed relatively better results than the coated paper using the VAE emulsion binder. KCI Citation Count: 0
