Intracellular Localization of Glycoconjugates in Ret Tracheal Mucosa as Revealed by Wheat Germ Agglutinin (WGA) - Colloidal Gold Complexes

Cytochemical studies using lectin-colloidal gold complexes could allow us to localize sugar residues in the ultrastructral level. We applid this technique to rat tracheal mucosa in order to indentify the binding patterns of wheat germ agglutinin-gold complexes in the ultrastructures of respiratory epithelial cells and performed transmission electron microscopic examination. We concluded that secrctory granules of secretory cells, microvillar glycocalyces of epithelial cells and mucous blankler were labeled abundantly by WGA-gold particles. KCI Citation Count: 0
