Zusammenfassung: | We used acoustic rhinometry to assess the geometry of the nasal cavity. The cross-sectional area of the nasal cavity as the function of distance from the nostil was obtained. Twenty two patients with septal deviation and/or hypertrophy of inferior turbinate were examined preoperatively : Twenty two normal subject served as controls. The six parameters, such as distance from nostril to isthmus nasi, area at the isthmus nasi, distance from nostril to conchal notch, area at the conchal notch, area at 4.0cm from nostril, total nasal volume were compared between patients with nasal septal deviation and/or chronic hypertrophic rhinitis and normal controls.
Of six parameters, the areas at the conchal notch, the area at 4.0cm from the nostril, total nasal volume are considered to be useful for clinical application. KCI Citation Count: 0 |
