Coleus forskholii의 구성성분 및 Forskolin 관련 유도체에 관한 연구

Coleus forskholii is an herb growing mainly in India and has been used for medicinal purposes from the ancient times. Forskolin is one of the main components of Coleus forskholii’s root. Several forskolin derivatives in the extracts of root were classified according to the structural features. Forskolin is known to possess a variety of biological activities such as anti-obesity, anti-glaucoma, anti-heart disease, anti-hypertension and oncolytic effects. A lot of biological activities and medicinal effects have been discussed along with mechanistic aspects. In particular, treatment against obesity associated with lean body mass was mentioned. Synthesis of forskolin through several intermediates and the related derivatives were briefly discussed. It is suggested that forskolin and its derivatives deserve to be further investigated for medicinal purposes. KCI Citation Count: 0
