Zusammenfassung: | Sphincter of Oddi dysfunction (SOD) is a disease of severe episodic abdominal pain caused by stenosis or dyskinesia and develops months or years after a cholecystectomy in many cases. There are three clinical classifications of SOD according to objective data including liver function tests and common bile duct dilatation. Concerning type III SOD, in which only biliary pain exists, treatment is often unsatisfactory due to the mixed nature of this clinical entity with other functional disorders. Sphincter of Oddi manometry confirms type III SOD, which makes an endoscopic sphincterotomy more adequate for the treatment. We report a case of type III SOD, successfully treated by an endoscopic biliary sphincterotomy performed based on high basal sphincter pressure on Sphincter of Oddi manometry. KCI Citation Count: 0 |
