Zusammenfassung: | Flux monitoring of a proton beam profile is important for understanding the characteristics of a proton beam. The decay constant of a GSO (Gd$_2$SiO$_5$) crystal is small, and a GSO crystal has a higher light output than an organic scintillator crystal. The GSO crystal also has strong hardness against radiation.
The flux profile of a proton beam from the MC-50 cyclotron at the Korea Institute of Radiological and Medical Sciences (KIRAMS) was measured using a GSO csystal. A 3.0-mm aluminum collimator was used for the beam collimation and for beam flux reduction. A photomultiplier tube (PMT) was attached on one side of the GSO crystal, and a counting method with an embedded CPU was used for the signal processing. We showed that the GSO crystal could be used for proton-beam profile monitoring. KCI Citation Count: 6 |
