Zusammenfassung: | Innovative dissipative (INERD) conections were developed for seismic resistant braced frames. The dissipative zones indeveloped: pin connections and U-shape connections. This paper presents studies on the pin conections, where the braces areconnected to their adjacent members by means of eye-bars and a pin runing through them. Experimental and theoreticalinvestigations show a high energy dissipation capacity of these connections that is due to the inelastic bending action of thepin. The susceptibility to brittle fracture or low-cycle fatigue is low as inelastic action takes place away from welds or stressadvantages provide a promise for a wide application of the invented connections for buildings and enginering structures inseismic regions.
