Zusammenfassung: | This paper analyzes the specialization of regional agriculture in fruit vegetables cultivated under structure using concentration and location quotient. We derived the location quotient of three crops from Agricultural Census in 2000, 2005, and 2010. Korea’s agricultural product exports jumped from 3.5 billion dollar in 1995 to 8.3 billion dollar in 2014, while imports of agricultural products rose from 10.5 billion dollar in 1995 to 36.1 billion dollar in 2014. The structure of Korea’s agricultural production changed from food crops to high-value crops, such as livestock, fruits and vegetables after world trade organization (WTO). These structural change affected the regional concentration and location quotient.
This results show that the specialization on watermelon and strawberry was getting concentrated. It means that cultivation of fruit vegetables lean too much towards specialized regions. Implementation policies based on the level of specialization is expected to improve the competitiveness of regional agriculture more efficiently. KCI Citation Count: 2 |
