Zusammenfassung: | This study investigates the effects of various factors of a residential hood on its capability of removing pollutants generated during the cooking process. For this purpose, a number of numerical simulations are performed to quantify the effect of each parameter, including flow rate, size of the hood, filter area, the location of cooking pots, and installation height of the hood. Simulation results reveal that the depth of the hood and installation location are the most important among the parameters. Optimizing the inlet also improved the capture efficiency by a few percent without design change or a penalty in the flow rate. The capture efficiencies of the hoods differ by an order of magnitude depending on the combination of parameters, although none of them were implausible. |
