Synthesis and chemistry of 1-methyl-3-hydroxy-3-phenyl-6-chloro-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinoline-2,4-dione

Treatment of 2-(N-methyl)-dichloroacetamido-5-chlorobenzophenone with an aqueous-alcoholic solution of sodium acetate yields 1-methyl-3-hydroxy-3-phenyl-6-chloro-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinoline-2,4-dione. Some transformation products of this compound are described.
