APPLICATION OF QUASI-LATTICE THEORY TO ALCOHOL - CARBON TETRACHLORIDE SYSTEMS

Values of heats of mixing are reported for methanol, n-butanol, and n-octanol with carbon tetrachloride at 25 °C. The experimental results are combined with data from other sources and an analysis of the excess thermodynamic functions for carbon tetrachloride solutions of methanol, ethanol, n-propan...

Zusammenfassung:Values of heats of mixing are reported for methanol, n-butanol, and n-octanol with carbon tetrachloride at 25 °C. The experimental results are combined with data from other sources and an analysis of the excess thermodynamic functions for carbon tetrachloride solutions of methanol, ethanol, n-propanol, n-butanol, and n-octanol in terms of Barker's theory of solutions is described. The behavior of these systems can be reproduced fairly well by the Barker model.
