Zusammenfassung: | Aim: The aim of this research project was to investigate to what extent targeted professional development could impact on primary school teachers' perception of their confidence and ability to implement the Health and Physical Education Curriculum.
Methodology: The research was a case study approach, drawing on qualitative and interpretive methods. Participants were from a semi-rural primary school. Quotes from teachers were extensively used to capture the accuracy and richness of teacher voice.
Summary: Targeted and sustained yearlong professional development for teachers, focusing on integrating the curriculum and good pedagogic practices, improved teacher's perceptions about their confidence and ability to teach the Health and Physical Education Curriculum in this cohort of teachers. Teachers valued the Health and Physical Education Curriculum area and as their knowledge and confidence increased, they valued it more. |
