Developing an electronic records policy for New Zealand

Explains how in Feb 1997, National Archives issues its 'Electronic records policy' for central government agencies, departments and organisations. Considers the background to the Policy's development, contents and how it fits with the current archival debates: custodialism versus post-custodialism and the records life cycle versus the records continuum. Covers the Policy's promotion to agencies and their reactions, and some of the areas that National Archives is currently exploring in endeavours to progress the management of electronic records.
