. In Aeshnidae, the growth of the visual apparatus is controlled by two kinds of factors. Morphogenetic factors regulate interrelations occurring between the eye and the optic lobe. Humoral factors are involved in the coordination of the growth of the visual apparatus and in general, in the transformations the insect undergoes during its larval life and metamorphosis.
