Zusammenfassung:An initial application of multispectral LIDAR data from the NASA airborne oceanographic lidar (AOL) to the mapping of watermass boundaries is presented. The approach uses the multispectral lidar data from the fluorosensing mode in a cluster analysis to define water types. Individual data points are classified as to parent water type(s) and then plotted in plan view to show the watermass boundaries and mixing regions. The methodology was applied to the AOL data from the SUPERFLUX overflights. The results are compared to salinity-mapping radar results from the same region.
