Zusammenfassung: | [Abstract] : We present a 46-year-old man with a solitary neurofibroma of the maxillary mucogingival junction with compression -induced bone resorption. The patient presented to our hospital with a chief complaint of swelling of the left maxillary gingiva. At the initial examination, a mobile, elastic, soft, and round mass of 15 mm in size was palpable in the maxillary mucogingival junction between the left first premolar and left first molar. All teeth were vital, without percussion pain and so on additionally, no inflammatory findings such as redness or drainage of the gingiva were observed. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed a relatively well-circumscribed mass with a diameter of 10 mm, with a low signal intensity on T1-weighted images and a high signal intensity on T2-weighted images. Ultrasonic imaging also revealed a 12x10x5 mm mass lesion at the border of the maxillary alveolar mucosa. The maxillary mucogingival junction tumor was clinically diagnosed and resected under local anesthesia. The histopathological diagnosis was a solitary neurofibroma. In immunohistochemically stained specimens, S-100 protein was positive, consistent with spindle tumor cells, and neurofilaments were sporadically positive in axons. No abnormal findings suggestive of recurrence have been observed, to date, for 2 years since surgery. |
