Preface

Specialist System in our society has been decided in 2015. "Regulation for BIS certified implant specialist system" has been approved by the board of administration and the general assembly and it is published in this journal. I expect members of our society to clear the conditions and perform outstandingly as our specialists. I would like to consider what "specialists" are and the current situation of "specialist system" on this occasion. Rapid advancement in medical/dental technology has lead to development of various fields of specialization and thus establishment of societies. Societies introduced "certified physician and specialist" system in order to obtain academic and social recognition. As many specialists were born as the number of the societies. However, Medical Service Act prohibited the specialists from advocating their specialties other than 19 original departments (surgery, internal medicine, ophthalmology etc. in medical department, dentistry only in dentistry).
