Zusammenfassung:「Purpose」: The purpose of this study was evaluated on the effects of muscle oxygenation of the exercise program in older persons. 「Methods」: The subjects consisted of 5 healthy older males (age 71±3). The subjects engaged in a 90-min aerobics session a week for a period of 5 months. Before and after the program, the subjects performed 5-m walk and rhythmic planter flexion exercises (7sec. work/3sec. rest for 2min) with right leg at 50% of the maximum voluntary contraction (MVC). Changes in muscle oxygenation were measured by a near infrared spectrometer (NIRS) (HEO-100, OMRON Inc.). The NIRS probe was placed on the region of the lateral head of gastrocnemius muscle. The initial slope at the initiation of exercise (10-30 sec) was evaluated as an index of muscle deoxygenation. 「Results」: A 5-min walk time was improved after the program. After the program, the muscle deoxygenation was observed an increase of 1.6-fold, PRE; 1.3±0.7 vs. POST; 2.1±0.7. 「Conclusion」: These results suggest that there is a possibility of the improvement on muscle oxidative metabolism in gastrocnemius muscle with exercise program in the older persons.
