CCN2 expression in ameloblastoma

In the present research, we investigated CCN2 protein expression in ameloblastoma and discussed its correlation with bone related molecules. Ameloblastoma derived cell line, AM-1, was also used. Immunohistochemistry demonstrated that CCN2 localization was observed in peripheral columnar cells and was intense in dental lamina like area. Stromal fibroblasts, osteoblasts and osteoclasts also expressed CCN2. There was no evident correlation between CCN2 expression and bone related molecules. RT-PCR and westernblotting revealed that AM-1 cell expressed CCN2 mRNA and protein. All the data imply that CCN2 may be involved in tumor cell function rather than bone resorption through stromal cells.
