Zusammenfassung:We followed the changes in the body mass index (BMI) of the same 422 children in a birth cohort from infancy to 7 yr of age. The possible existence of characteristics of a BMI pattern, a decrease in BMI during 2-3 yr of age and a subsequent rapid increase from 4 yr of age onward that may predispose to later obesity, was suggested.
