Zusammenfassung: | A fourteen-year-old male had eruption with itching on his neck to chest since the last of April 2002. He went to a home doctor, and was presented to the department of dermatology of our hospital. He was suspected Prurigo pigmentosa, and his past history of thirsty and polyuria was found out. He presented to our department. Laboratory tests indicated blood sugar level of 453mg/dl, positive in urine sugar and ketone test, and an arterial blood gas indicated pH 7.389 and base excess -2.9mEq/L. Under the diagnosis of diabetic ketosis the patient was treated with intensive insulin therapy. As his blood sugar control and ketosis improved, his eruption and itchimg decreased. About a week after, his eruption was almost vanished remaining pigmentation. Prurigo pigmentosa is a relatively new disease concept proposed by Nagashima et al. in 1971. The cause of the disease remained unknown, but in recent years some cases of the disease complicated by diabetic ketosis is reported. The course of the current case was compatible with other cases reported before. |
