Zusammenfassung:Dilatation of common carotid artery (CCA) has been indicated as an independent risk factor for abdominal aortic aneurysm (AA), however it has not been yet established in Japanese patients with AA. This study aimed to identify CCA diameter of preoperative patients with abdominal and/or thoracic AA. We evaluated 14 AA patients and 14 controls, adjusted by age and risk factors. The diameters of adventitia interval (CCA-A) and endosporium interval (CCA-E) for diastolic phase were measured using linear-array probe. Obtained data was compared between groups using Mann-Whitney U test and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was used to evaluate the diagnostic value for the presence of AA.
