Zusammenfassung: | In recent years, the description of "human heredity" in high school biology textbooks has been reduced. This is a regrettable situation. The main aims of educating high school students about "human heredity" are to make them fully aware of not only common human genetic traits that are transmitted in accordance with the Mendelian law of inheritance, but also the genetic diversity of the human population, of which hereditary diseases form a part, in order to foster a spirit of human coexistence without prejudice or misunderstanding. This will lead to a fuller understanding of an individual's own biology and the development of healthy views about life, society and the world in general. I present here some realizable examples of how to teach students about human general genetic traits (ABO blood types, color blindness, alcohol sensitivity, etc.) and genetic diseases including chromosome abnormality syndromes. |
