Head Injury in Childhood

During past several years 743 head injuries in children under 15 years old were experienced in our clinics. We had 161 cases of skull fracture (22%). There were 95 linear fractures, 62 depressed fractures and 4 based skull fractures. 1) Many skull fractures occurred with small energy and few cases manifested unconsciousness. Most of them recovered smoothly and cured without neurological disorders. 2) 35 patients underwent cranioplasty. We replaced fractured bone as well as possible. 3) 23 patients underwent operation for hematoma and compound cerebral injury with fracture of the skull.
