Zusammenfassung: | This chapter explores some important trends in the definition, conceptualisation and interpretation of development education and its ongoing transition towards world citizenship education. More specifically the chapter examines the gradual shift in thinking about development education from placing aid and the actors within the institutional aid system at the centre of attention (traditional aid perspective), over economic development (economic development perspective), to placing rights-based thinking at the core (global justice perspective). The chapter also analyses how these trends are characterized by a growing attention for a more critical approach in the practice of Global Citizenship education. |
