Zusammenfassung: | Acanthosis nigricans is a mucocutaneous eruption that occurs in a strikingly exuberant form as a marker for a highly malignant and rapidly fatal internal cancer. A case of poorly-differentiated adenocarcinoma (Borrmann type 3) observed in the stomach of a 24-year-old man was associated with the typical skin manifestations of acanthosis nigricans. The advanced tumor in antrum to high body was unresectable due to extensive metastasis. The cutaneous lesions were characterized by hyperpigmentation and papillary hypertrophy at both axilla and inguinal areas without oral mucosal involvement. In spite of the systemic chemotherapy, there was no response about the tumor burden and the cutaneous lesions. Three months after diagnosis, he died of continuous blood oozing from the tumor mass, hepatic failure and malnutrition. (Kor J Gastroenterol 1999;34:682 - 687) |
