Zusammenfassung:To clarify the mechanism of ethanol induced gastric mucosal damage and protective effect of d-methyl prostaglandin (PG) E against the gastric mucosal damage, the activiteis of superoxide (SOD), catalase, glutathione peroxidase of rat stomach were measured after topical application of ethanol in stomach of rats with or woitout d-methyl PGE pretreatment.Variable doses of d-methy1 PGE were given intragastrically at 30mins before the administration of 75% ethanol.The results were summarized as follows;1) The SOD, catalase, glutathion peroxedase activities increase with different concentration of ethanol.2) The each eazyme actinity also shwed dose dependent decrease in the d-methyl PGE pretreatment group than only 75% ethanol application group. According to our experimint it was suggested that superoxide radical may play a role on ehtnol-indeced gastric damage in rats.
