충수돌기에 발생한 악성종양 4예

Primary adenocarcinoma of the vermiform appendix is very rare, fewer than 250 cases having been reported. It is never diagnosed preoperatively and is made by the pathologist. In many instances appendicitis and tumor coexist. This disease occurs man and fifth decade predominantly. The symptoms are right lower quadrant abdominal pain, palpable mass, weight loss and melena etc. Appendiceal tumor is classified histologically into three entities. Carcinoid, mucinous cystadenocarcinoma and colonic type adenocarcinoma. These are different in behavior histologically and clinically. Four patients with primary malignant tumor of the appendix have recently presented at Severance Hospital. We reported the cases and reviewed the literature.
