Zusammenfassung:Background: We tried to evaluate the cytotoxicity of bupivacaine and the protective effect of nerve growth factor(NGF) on bupivacaine-induced cytotoxicity. Methods: Myocardial ceUs of neonatal mice were cultured for 24 hours in the medium containing bupivacaine only, or for 2 hours with pretreatment of NGF following bupivacaine expo- sure. Neutral red(NR) assay, MlT assay, count of beating rate and measurement of lactate dehy- drogenase(LDH) activity were done together with light microscopic observation. Results: l.
