Zusammenfassung: | We have reviewed 4,670 cases of patients who visited the emergency room of Dong Boo City Hospital during 1 years from January 1 to December 31, 1997 to analyze the emergency patients and to play a role in the systematic and comprehensive emergency management. The results of the study were as follows: 1. 2,284 patient(48.9%) were homeless patients, 1,097(23.5%) were medically insured patients, and 1,041(22.3%) were medical aid patients. 2. Male to female ratio was 1.2:1 and the most common age group was 5th decade. In home- less patients, male to female ratio was 4.5: I and the most common age group was 5th decade. 3. 1,005(42.1%) patients arrived in the emergency room between 3PM and 10PM. In home- less patients, 1,109(48.5) patients arrived in the emergency room between 10PM and 7AM 4. As for daily visits, it increased slightly on Saturday and Sunday. For the homeless patients, Friday and Monday were the most crowded in a weekly distribution. 5. Monthly visits were relatively even. Visits increased slightly in September, July, and August. For homeless patients, the most predominant monthly distribution of visits was in December(10.2%). 6. Visiting patients were composed of internal medicine with 37.5%, general surgery with 15.6%, orthopedic surgery with 11.8%. For homeless patients, internal medicine was 30.3%, and general surgery was 18.4%. 7. The admission rate was 37.8%(901 patients). For homeless patients, the admission rate was 33.6%(767 patients).
8. The emergency operation rate was 2.3%(55 patients). For homeless patients, it was 2.3%(52 patients). 9. The number of DOA was 13 patients(0.4%). For homeless patients, it was 44 patients(1.9%). |
