Zusammenfassung: | During the past 2 years from January, 1994 to December, 1995, 128 cases of bum patient were treated at the department of surgery of Kang Nam General Hospital. Those 128 cases were reviewed and summarized as follows: I) Males (77 cases) were affected more frequently than females(5lcases). The ratio of male to female was l.5: l. 2) Main causes of burn were scalding (50%) and flame (35.2%). 3) Most of patients (52.3%) suffered less than 20% of total Body surface. 4) The average duration of escar separation was 4 week. 5) The skin graft was performed in l6 cases and most frequent period of grafting was 4 week. 6) The main complication were wound infection (7.8% ) sepsis (6.3%), pneumonia (6.3%), etc. 7) The main organisms of burn wound infection were Pseudomonas aeroginosa, Staplylococus aureus, Enterobacter species, etc. 8) The overall, mortality rate was 5.4% (7/128) and the most frequent cause of death was sepsis (71%). 9) The mortality rate was closely related to the extent, cause of bum, hct concentration, albumin concentration, and patients age. |
