Zusammenfassung:Today's threats of greatest prominence come more from nature than from a terrorist bent on making a political statement at our expense. Floods, hurricanes, wildfires, and ice storms are destructive and likely to occur. Water system engineers and operators can expect a natural hazard to negatively affect their operations. We need to be prepared to sustain and recover operations. Far too many elected and appointed leaders have learned the hard way what it means to be unprepared for such catastrophic events. The possibility of direct attack still exists and must be addressed, but natural events are much more likely to result in catastrophic failure.
