Can the UN, a 20th century invention, function in a 21st century would? Does the UN have capacities to adapt and evolve? The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is an organization within the UN system that can evolve, adapt many immeasurable contributions that add to global governance. It was central to move the idea of development away from a focus on states and their economies, towards a view that prioritizes people and creating sustainable communities. While questions remain about its impact, it presents a strong example of an organization with the capacity to adapt in a dynamic global environment.
