Controlling Risk Taking Among Firefighters: Identifying key attributes for an incident commander
Through a series of focus group interviews with paid and volunteer firefighters, the author identifies factors that contribute to risky behavior on the job, as well as characteristics that make for an effective incident commander. Key among those attributes are trust and personal respect.
