Zusammenfassung:This article sets the stage for this special issue of Educational Technology on paradigm change in education. First, it defines paradigm change and presents evidence that it is the only way to improve our systems of education and training at this point in the history of the evolution of society. Second, it gives a brief overview of the likely key characteristics of the new paradigm of education and proposes that this paradigm change is not only possible, but inevitable. Third, it gives a brief glimpse of principles that will guide the paradigm change process. Finally, the organization of this special issue is described, along with a summary of each article.
