CONTRIBUTO ALLA DISCUSSIONE SUL COMPLESSO AUGUSTEO PALATINO

The last five years have seen renewed interest being taken in the structures around the Temple of Apollo Palatino, thanks above all to the publication of part of the excavation data and new plans and cross-sections of the complex. The ensuing scientific debate saw the figure of Augustus looming ever larger as designer of a majestic new complex of the palatial type. Within this framework, analysis focused on certain masonry structures from which the lines seem to emerge in the area before the Temple of Apollo of a more extensive peristyle than had hitherto been hypothesized including, from the very first building project, two libraries, Greek and Latin, looking onto a terrace within which may be discerned the flowerbeds that formed the silva apollinis.
