Personality types of golf course superintendents and students graduating in turfgrass management

The predominant personality types in a population of golf course superintendents were found to differ significantly for some preferences when compared to a general population of college graduates. The personality types of graduates from a turf grass management program at a technical college were found to be similar to those for the population of students who enroll at the college. However, there was a significant difference for some preferences when the turfgrass management graduates were compared to the golf course superintendents. The typical golf course superintendent in the population surveyed was found to be a 39-year-old male with an associate or bachelors degree. This individual had been employed in the occupation for 18 years, worked 41 or more hours per week, and rated job satisfaction as high.
