Zusammenfassung:Molecular photoelectron spectroscopy—a new method for the determination of valence electron ionization potentials—is reviewed. The basic instrumental designs are described. The theory needed to understand the fine structure in the photoelectron spectrum is presented. Results of studies of a variety of chemical compounds illustrate the information to be gleaned from the photoelectron spectrum.
