Zusammenfassung:A checklist of the lichens of Xinjiang, China, is based on the extensive collections and research by the senior author during the past 15 years. About 6000 specimens were collected from 40 sites in the Altay, Tianshan, and Kunlun Mountains. A total of 85 genera, 268 species, two subspecies, 16 varieties, and 15 forms have been reported. Of the total species, 34 are endemic to China, and only one variety, Rhizoplaca peltata var. regalis, is endemic to Xinjiang. Thirty-eight species are reported for the first time from China and 169 species for the first time from Xinjiang.
