Zusammenfassung: | Accumulated research findings demonstrate associations between environmentalism and standard social structural categories. Among these are age, education, gender, political ideology, religion, and place of residence. Sociodemographic variables are usually less effective in explaining differential support for environmental issues than political ideology and social psychological variables, including attitudes, beliefs, and worldviews. The author uses Czech data from the 1993 and 2000 International Social Survey Programme (ISSP) module on the environment. She compares the results from these surveys and verifies some known hypotheses and theories that predict environmental behaviour by means of sociodemographic and social psychological variables. |
