Zusammenfassung:The study involves theoretical and historical sociology. It concerns origin, development and functions of bureaucracy in soviet patterned societies and its influence on the social structure. The study draws from historical analysis rooted in the establishment of bureaucratic rule in the Soviet Union, suggesting its "immanent" sources, the consequences of the second economy and the corruptive influences on the stratification of society. The analysis is based on the theory of strategic groups, which allows the association of static and dynamic views on the problem of social inequality. It aims at a new interpretation of "functioning" after the collapse of the communist regime. The paper proposes that the result of struggling strategic groups for the security of their own social positions is Communism's self demise.
