Zusammenfassung: | The pottery groups of EM I-IIB Knossos are discussed and compared to contemporary assemblages in the nearby harbour town of Poros-Katsambas. Evidence for the phasing of EM I is reconsidered, along with stylistic developments within EM IIA. The nature of the Cycladic style pottery found at EM I and EM IIA Poros is compared, emphasising the dominance of transport jars in the later period. The proportion of Cycladic material is contrasted with that at Knossos. These data are then used to discuss issues of chronology, spheres of exchange and patterns of consumption in earlier Prepalatial north-central Crete. |
