Zusammenfassung:Most of the collection of Crustacea of the nineteenth century French naturalist Guérin-Méneville (1799-1874), is held in the General Invertebrates Collection of the Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia. This paper lists the hyperiid amphipods from that collection, together with notes on their systematic status. Illustrations are given for many specimens some of which have never been illustrated before. All of the specimens are now longdry, once having been alcohol preserved. The collection contains eight lots of types of species described by Guérin-Méneville (1825, 1836a, 1836c, 1844) and the holotype of a species described by Milne-Edwards (1830). In addition amongst the "non-type" material are historically interesting specimens from a taxonomic point of view including some probable types of Milne-Edwards (1830, 1840) and eleven lots bearing only manuscript names. This is the first time since Guérin-Méneville that these specimens have been evaluated from a taxonomist's perspective.
